HIIT

HIIT, which stands for High Intensity Interval Training, incorporates several rounds of quick, intense and explosive bursts of exercise followed by a short rest period. This type of training will significantly increase the heart rate to at least 80% of your maximum and involves working at an effort level of 8-9/10. By the time the interval has ended you should feel like you couldn’t have continued any longer at this pace. Getting your heart rate up to this level with short periods of rest allows the body to burn more calories and boosts metabolism, which in turn helps you lose body fat. This is in addition to improving your overall health.

Calisthenics

Calisthenics is a type of exercise that uses your bodyweight as a form of resistance and requires no equipment. The word calisthenics comes from the Greek words ‘kallos’ meaning beauty and ‘thenos’ meaning strength. Examples of calisthenics exercises include push-ups, sit-ups, squats, lunges, planks and burpees all of which develop strength, muscular endurance, core strength and neuromuscular efficiency. Calisthenics or bodyweight training is often described as functional as a lot of the exercises involve movements that we use in everyday life. The main benefit of this type of workout is that most people can start exercising right away, regardless of fitness levels.

Legs, Bums and Tums

This class does exactly what it says on the tin! It involves a full body aerobic workout that aims to specifically target your legs, buttocks (Glutes) and abdominal muscles to strengthen, tone and sculpt these areas. Expect high repetitions with targeted exercises that use your body weight and small weights for added resistance. A great classic, fun, fat burning workout with lunges, squats, crunches, leg lifts and more!

Circuit Training

Circuit training involves moving round a number of moderate intensity exercise stations performing each exercise as many times as you can in a set amount of time. After a short rest period, the circuit is then repeated. Our Circuit classes are fast paced and combine cardio with high volume, low resistance upper body, core and lower body exercises giving a full body conditioning workout. The main benefits of circuit training are improved strength and cardiovascular fitness, resulting in weight loss and overall well being.
