Clinical Pilates

Today’s hectic lifestyle often means that we find it difficult to balance our personal needs with the pressures of work and busy family life. Pilates is an excellent method of corrective exercise that provides our bodies with a stable platform for movement and control.  Pilates techniques are at the heart of many of our corrective therapies and treatments for Physiotherapy, meaning that our team is ideally qualified and experienced to teach you the most effective Pilates techniques.

Pilates is a form of exercise and body conditioning developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century and was originally called ‘Contrology’.  It is a low impact exercise that focuses on improving movement quality and posture through the correct activation and strengthening of the core muscles.  The variety of exercises in the Pilates repertoire aim to improve spinal mobility, flexibility, strength and body awareness through controlled functional movements to help you in everyday life.

‘When all your muscles are properly developed, you will, as a matter of course, perform your work with minimum effort and maximum pleasure’
